Fair odds = the market price with the bookmaker's margin stripped out (devigged). We prefer the sharp reference line where we hold one; otherwise we label the verdict as consensus-based.
Edge = your price × fair probability − 1. Positive means you beat the fair price at that moment.
Beat the close = graded after kickoff against the captured closing price. Consistently beating the close is the strongest public evidence of betting skill — that's the habit this tool builds.
